TIMES TALK WITH HEIDI SELLECK
Let me introduce you to Brad Doan, an industry veteran of 30 years and the Director for New Business Development for Green Coast Designs based out of Torrance
1. What is your favorite thing about our industry? What keeps you involved?
First and foremost — the people. Then, the creativity.
Meeting people and building long-lasting relationships has always been the heart of why I love this industry. Working with incredible individuals and their companies on projects over the years has been truly rewarding. I have relationships that go back more than 30 years — and I’m fortunate to call many of these talented, dynamic people not just colleagues, but friends.
Second, I love how our industry can bring any creative idea to life — from concept to design, sourcing, and manufacturing. I came from a company with a large design team where we developed over 1,000 patented items, constantly pushing creative boundaries. Now, at Green Coast Designs, we separate complex, full-color artwork daily and we are truly a creative art facility that can pump out great quality and great numbers and bring graphics and messages to life through silk screen printing on shirts, hoodies, bags and other similar. That constant creative energy keeps me inspired and engaged every day.
2. Why did you join SAAC? How has SAAC helped you as a regional to strengthen your relationships?
Green Coast Designs is a specialized silk screen decorator based in Los Angeles, working primarily with distributors throughout the Western U.S. With more than 25 years of experience, it only made sense to join SAAC and introduce Green Coast Designs to the regional community.
SAAC has been an incredible asset in growing our business. The events, networking, and exposure have made it so much easier to show the industry what we do. We’ve gained new clients almost every week as a direct result of being involved. I’m incredibly grateful for SAAC’s support and everything they’ve done to help Green Coast Designs connect and thrive.
3. How was the factory tour in June? How has it helped you with recognition and business growth?
The SAAC-hosted factory tour was truly a catalyst for our recent growth. Partnering with SanMar and Supacolor brought tremendous exposure and credibility, helping us connect with many top distributors in Southern California. The tour not only opened doors and sparked conversations — it directly resulted in a steady flow of new business. It worked exactly as I had hoped: meaningful connections, real opportunities, and measurable growth.
4. What did you think of the SAAC Expo & Disney California Adventure experience?
The SAAC Expo was a fantastic opportunity to meet a variety of distributors throughout Southern California and introduce Green Coast Designs in a relaxed, professional setting. As a silk screen facility, we’re usually the ones reaching out — not the ones with distributors knocking on our door — so having a platform to showcase what makes us different was invaluable.
The Disney California Adventure experience was the perfect follow-up — a fun, memorable way to continue building industry relationships. Sharing great food and drinks in the happiest place on earth while connecting with peers? It doesn’t get much better than that.
5. How long have you been in the industry?
A little over 30 years. From 1994 to 2000, I worked with Premiere Group, a distributor/ad agency in Redondo Beach. Then I spent 24 years with Sunscope, from 2000 to 2024, and joined Green Coast Designs in the fourth quarter of 2024. It’s been an amazing ride — I feel very blessed!
6. Are you excited to attend the SAAC Holiday Party and Installation on December 9th?
Absolutely! Oceanside is one of my favorite California beach towns, and past SAAC holiday parties have always been a great time. With such a dynamic and fun group, I have no doubt this year’s event will be another fantastic celebration!
See you at the holiday party on December 9th. Tickets can be purchased by clicking this link 2025 SAAC Holiday Party – SAAC
It’s going to be a night to remember!
